Among the many fast-changing areas of Seoul, Seongsu-dong stands out as one of the best examples. Many call it the ‘Brooklyn’ of Korea. Seongsu-dong was designated a semi-industrial zone in 1960 by Seoul city planners, and has traditionally housed hardware stores, printing presses, car repair shops, and cobblers. But recently, these workshops have been converted into coffee shops and restaurants, drawing crowds.
