Hines began in 1957 as a Houston-based developer and is a now a real estate investment company with a deep-rooted history. It started as a one-person real estate development company founded by founder Gerald Hines in downtown Houston. Its first development project was a logistics center, but the company has gone on to develop offices as well for the past 20 years. Completed in 1971, One Shell Plaza was the project that put Hines on the map in the US.
