According to the US National Association of REITs (NAREIT), currently around two-thirds of the world’s 25 largest large institutional investors invest in publicly traded REITs. Global institutions are increasingly investing in REITs. According to the 2022 annual report from Pensions & Investments, an American investment magazine, the REIT assets of the top 200 retirement pensions in the United States increased by 22% over the previous year to USD 34.2 billion (as of the end of September 2021).
