Based on the 2021 statistical report from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on Korea’s total floor area, residential buildings make up the highest surface area, covering 46.4 percent (1,882,918㎡). Next are commercial buildings, only reaching just about half of that (22.1 percent, 894,675㎡). This statistic reaffirms the sheer proportion of residential buildings.
